Michelle Socha - Vocals and Percussion
Michelle has been composing songs since the fourth
grade, and spent hours taping her compositions, experimenting with layering
vocal harmonies and refining her ability to pick out harmonic lines and
developing song structure. She sang with choirs through her high school
and college years, as well as working as a wedding singer with various
bands in downstate Michigan. After moving to Traverse City in 1996, she
became part of a popular local group named Upstairs at Bailey’s,
whose trademark was an unplugged, three-part harmony sound. Members of
that group joined Michelle in creating Splendid Havoc in 1998. Michelle continues to be a prolific composer. “Home
Tonight,” a song she co-wrote with Kim King, was chosen for the “WKLT
Northern Michigan Rocks, Volume One” CD and has received significant airtime
on WKLT. To date, Michelle has an impressive
list of songs that have gotten airplay on local Northern Michigan Stations which
include “Mother’s
Ties”, a tribute song about her deceased mother, Emilie, “Derelict”, “Cumulus
Nimbus”, “Bottle Boy” and “The Smile”. Hopefully
the list will continue to grow.
